341. How to Use Micro Tools to Grow Your Business

An Easier Way to Grow Your Business

Revolutionizing Your Business with Micro Tools and Meaningful Relationships

The Rise of Micro Tools

Micro tools are small, specific pieces of software designed to solve particular problems with just one or two action items. Unlike all-in-one platforms, these tools focus on a single task, making them highly effective and efficient. For example, Jordan has developed a micro tool that automatically subscribes people to your email list when they click a specific link. This eliminates the need for a landing page and increases conversion rates for summits, bundles, or list swaps.

The beauty of micro tools lies in their simplicity and affordability. Many offer lifetime access with a one-time payment, making them an attractive investment for business owners looking to optimize their operations without breaking the bank. By identifying your unique challenges and seeking out micro tools to address them, you can create a tailored suite of solutions that work seamlessly together to support your growth.

Building Relationships for Success

While micro tools can provide the technical foundation for your business, relationships are the key to unlocking long-term success. Jordan emphasizes the importance of cultivating high-quality connections rather than focusing on quantity. By being present, engaged, and genuinely interested in the people you interact with, you can build a strong network of supportive individuals who can help you navigate challenges and seize opportunities.

Maintaining relationships doesn't have to be a daunting task. Even if you only connect with someone once a month, the depth and sincerity of your interactions matter more than the frequency. By setting reminders and using tools like customer relationship management (CRM) software or Google Calendar, you can ensure that you're consistently nurturing your connections and contributing value to your network.

Leveraging Relationships for Growth

As your relationships grow and evolve, you'll find that they can open doors to incredible opportunities. When Jordan launched her Instagram micro tool, she was blown away by the response from her network. Not only did people eagerly purchase the tool, but they also wanted to become affiliates and share it with their own audiences. This level of validation and support is a testament to the power of authentic connections.

By cultivating a strong network of raving fans and referral partners, you can tap into organic, sustainable growth. Instead of shouting into the void and hoping for the best, you can rely on your relationships to amplify your message and attract aligned, targeted leads. This approach not only saves you time and energy but also fosters a sense of community and collaboration that can propel your business to new heights.

Conclusion:

In a world where distrust and disconnection are rampant, micro tools and meaningful relationships offer a refreshing path forward for business owners. By embracing targeted solutions and investing in authentic connections, you can create a business that is not only profitable but also fulfilling and impactful. As Jordan Gill has demonstrated, the key to success lies in identifying your unique challenges, seeking out the right tools and relationships to address them, and consistently showing up with presence, engagement, and genuine care. By doing so, you'll be well on your way to revolutionizing your business and making your mark in the world.

Amy [00:00:02]:

Today's guest is sharing the coolest new tool that you need to be implementing as a business owner. Our guest today, Jordan Gill, is a multi seven figure business strategist whose mission is for high achieving business owners to prioritize rest without sacrificing their revenue. And this tool will help you do that. What is it? It is a micro tool. And Jordan, I would love for you to unpack this. First of all, what the heck is a micro tool?

Jordan [00:00:40]:

Yeah, so if you're new to me, you probably have never heard of the term micro tool, and that's because I made it up right, as we all love business. But a micro tool is again, a piece of software that usually has maybe one or two action items. So it's not the mega clickups or the convert kits of the world. It is for a very, very specific reason. I'll give an example. One is like if you host summits or bundles or list swaps or things where you're having other people email on your behalf or your email on other people's behalves. And so instead of sending your collaborators a link that then takes there are people to a landing page and they got us convert and sign up instead. Anybody who clicks that link gets auto subscribed to your email list.

Jordan [00:01:37]:

So that actually eliminates and increases the conversion of your people to your summits or bundles or whatever by a lot, I will say. So that's one way that instead of getting into the weeds of your landing page and should the button be orange or blue, it's like we're converting from click, which is pretty cool. So that's one of the micro tools that I've built. And it's again, helping people with very specific problems with again, one or two action items on it. And again, a lot of times they have lifetime one time payments as well, which is great for, again, your monthly statements. So it just hits you once and then you never have to pay again.

Amy [00:02:18]:

Oh my gosh, that is so cool. And it sounds like it's really designed to increase those conversion rates, really build our list, because at the end of the day, having a list that we own is vital. As a business owner, I think so many times entrepreneurs forget that we don't own our social media accounts. Worst, putting all this time, all this energy, all this stress and anxiety into platforms that could vanish at the drop of a hat. So using something like this can really, really benefit us as business owners and impact our bottom line. Now this sounds awesome, but it also sounds super techy. So if someone's like, okay, where do I start? What would you even advise them to do? Is this something that someone else builds for you, or you can create yourself, or how does it all work?

Jordan [00:03:09]:

Yeah, totally. So, yes, you can build it yourself through getting a developer. Thankfully, I have a really good developer relationship, so I create a lot of these tools, and I have a very long list of requests from people. So I'm working through the list. But, you know, if you. It doesn't have to be techie. You know, I think that there is this myth of, okay, you have to be like Mark Zuckerberg in his Harvard dorm room, like, coding it yourself. And I honestly use upwork to find my developers.

Jordan [00:03:44]:

And I found now, at this point, I found a couple of really great relationships, and now I can go back to the same people. But it really comes down to, okay, how do I want to solve this problem? And then a lot of times the developers can talk back to you and say, either that's able to happen or that's not able to happen. Right? And so, you know, I think that now moving into just kind of the age that we're in, in business, so many people are wanting more tools, they're wanting more things taken off their plate. And so, you know, I could just say, oh, you know, you could. There's no real, I guess, manual way to do what one of my micro tools does with auto subscribing. But if you can generate a link, you can create an auto subscribe link, because again, the coding is happening behind the scenes, and it looks like just you're filling out a form to the end user so the person using the tool. And again, that's done with the developer relationship, that's done with. Okay, here's what I want it to look like to them.

Jordan [00:04:49]:

And then whatever's happening in the background, that needs to happen, make it happen.

Amy [00:04:53]:

I think it is just so cool what technology has the ability to do. And like you said, you know, you're just going on sites like upwork and just building these relationships with these developers to say, hey, this is what I want to have happen. It sounds like it's a little bit more in depth than just setting up an automation on the back end via, like, Zapier. It seems like, okay, let's actually really, really hone this in and make my business work for me on autopilot. So it's going even deeper than just setting up some of those basic automations. Am I understanding that correctly?

Jordan [00:05:33]:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Amy [00:05:34]:

Perfect.

Jordan [00:05:35]:

And I mean, Zapier is great. I am a big fan of Zapier.

Amy [00:05:37]:

Same.

Jordan [00:05:38]:

But there's a little more depth in these.

Amy [00:05:40]:

Yeah, exactly. And just these systems and automations, that's really the key as business owners to give us the ability to scale. But something, you kept coming back to Washington, building these relationships on these platforms, really diving in and figuring out, okay, who's actually delivering results versus who's all talk. Because let's face it, in the online space, there have been a lot of people that have gotten burnt and have lost trust in a lot of the online service providers. Building these relationships is such a powerful way to grow your business. And you're saying that you've really leveraged relationships to grow, correct?

Jordan [00:06:24]:

Yes, absolutely. 100%. You know, I think that, I always think, okay, if I have a problem, like what relationship do I need to go to to solve it? You know, it's, it's, again, I may not know the right person to go to for the job, or I may not know the right tool or whatever the case is, but I know somebody who knows the right tool or knows the right person. And when you're in connection with people, when you're consistently building those relationships, which I know is such a broad term and it may sound scary, like, okay, now I gotta, like checking with them every week or I gotta keep up, right? And something that I learned having moved twelve times in my life, which I know Amy and I talked about before this, you know, I recognize that it's less about quantity when it comes to relationships and more about quality. So I may not, you know, speak to, I was just speaking to one of my best friends since I was born early this morning. And we talk once a month maybe, you know, and it still is a very deep relationship for me. So it's not this, okay, I have to keep tabs on all of these relationships all the time. There's a lot of times where I don't talk to people for months sometimes, and yet we can catch back up and we're in the swing.

Jordan [00:07:36]:

And so when I think of building relationships, it's about, again, quality. It's about when I'm talking to you, I'm really present and I'm focused and I'm here versus, again, like, just saying, like, oh, I hope you're having a good day, like, or, oh, like thinking of you. Like, those are nice. And when it comes to wanting to build relationships that are going to, you know, keep your business strong and again, help you to solve those problems, like I mentioned, you want to think about, okay, how can I contribute to this? Relationship. And then also, you know, it needs to be reciprocal. Not in the sense of like, okay, I give you a client, now you give me a client, because I do not work that way at all. I think everything is cyclical. If I'm giving you a client, a client's going to come around the back from somebody else, you know, so defining what those types of relationships are for you, and then again, just having.

Jordan [00:08:29]:

If you're somebody who's forgetful, which I am, you know, having those reminders on your scheduler and just creating, again, whether it's an official CRM or customer relationship management software, or whether it's just a Google calendar, and every month, you know, you're just, like, checking in or every couple months or whatever the case is, like, that's totally fine. And I don't see anything wrong with that. That doesn't make me, in my opinion, less of a friend or less of somebody, or, I don't think this person's important. I do think you're important. And therefore, I want to make sure that I'm, you know, keeping up with our relationship and continuing to contribute. So relationships are everything. And how I continue to hear this message is my second micro tool that I built is around Instagram and being able to create and curate feeds of people that you actually want to follow. So, with Instagram, the alarms change all the time.

Jordan [00:09:27]:

I don't even see the people I follow anymore. It's like all these random people, which is frustrating because I love Instagram, actually. I know I feel like I'm like the unicorn of the world, but I do love Instagram, and yet I can't see the people I want to see. And so, again, naturally, I'm like, okay, this is a problem I have. How do I solve it? My mind goes to micro tools. So I built this tool. Um, and. Or I had this idea.

Jordan [00:09:50]:

I went to my developer, he gave me the green light. And so, oddly enough, my birthday was the next day. But I'm like, I'm so excited, and I just want to share this tool. And, like, it's not built yet, but it's coming. And so I, like, literally just put out a samcart page. I built a semi designed ish version in Figma, which is just a design tool, and I put it out there. And again, I thought, like, yeah, maybe other people will find it valuable, but, like, I didn't really think that much of it, and it, like, took off. Like, it was a tool that was 197 one time, and I made over ten k on my birthday, the very first day I sold, I was like, what is happening? And two, what was wild was there.

Jordan [00:10:36]:

I had so many requests for affiliates, people who had bought it, people who didn't purchase it but wanted to send it to their audience. Like it was so interesting. And I think that people buying something is one level of validation and then another level of validation is, okay, they're buying it and then they want to share it with their people. That to me screams like, you are onto something. This is a really big deal. So that got me really excited. And since then, many more have come and I have 52 affiliates now on this product that I'm, and it's about to be launched technically to the betas. And it's just like, that's relationships, right? Like that is all relationships.

Jordan [00:11:20]:

It's not like I've said, alert, who wants to be an affiliate? Like, there was no alert, right? I was getting a manicure and pedicure and I'm getting blown up with people wanting affiliate links, right? So I want to encourage you because it sounds like, oh, I have to build these relationships and it's going to take forever. And it does take some time. And over the course of eight years in my business, things happen so much faster for me now because I took the time in year one, year two, year three to connect and to be open about meeting new people. And so I'm the biggest fan of relationships possibly that there ever could be.

Amy [00:11:59]:

Oh my gosh, I love it. It really makes me think of the book who, not how I think it was Simon sank that wrote that. And that was a really game changing book because it does, it dives into the power of relationships. And a lot of times as business owners, we get so focused on the nitty gritty on the day to day on the upward battle that these algorithms on social media have, you know, hanging over us that we forget to leverage relationships and the power of them. I mean, I'm the same way. I would rather have those higher quality relationships than like 50,000 relationships because you don't need a lot to make this work for you. You just need a few core people that are raving fans and then it's a win win. Like you said, with the affiliate portion of things, it's reciprocal because you're getting something, they're getting something.

Amy [00:12:55]:

And then it just, it's that organic growth, it's sustainable growth, it's aligned, targeted leads versus spending all our time shouting out into the void and nobody hears our message, which happens all the time. And a way to build these relationships is by getting into new rooms, by taking the time to stretch yourself, get out of your comfort zone and go to different events. And you're actually hosting an event coming up here in September called make your mark live that is literally designed to help women do just this to build those quality relationships. Can you tell us more about the room that you've created and why you built this space intentionally?

Jordan [00:13:41]:

Totally, Amy. And as a fellow, you know, events gal, you know that it's, there's intention behind everything, right? You can't put on an event with no intention. At least I would advise it. I'm sure you wouldn't either. So my intention really, with the rooms that I create, and specifically this room is all centered around connection and collaboration. And if you're somebody who just wanted to come to an event and sit back and listen to speakers, it's probably not the event for you. But if you're somebody who is wanting to meet a few, again, very intentional, awesome relationships, whether it's, you know, podcast guesting, whether it's connection through speaking through events or speaking at people's masterminds or inside people's programs, or you find a new biz bestie, or you find a referral partner, like, those are the types of things that I want people to get out of this event. And so we have some morning sessions.

Jordan [00:14:39]:

How we have it kind of built is morning sessions to kind of just get your brain into idea mode and expand and receive some depth. And then the afternoons are more, they're called workshops, but very much like you're going to be getting to know the people around your table. And there's like a little bit of competitiveness because we have one workshop that's called the secret showcase, and it's where everybody around the table shares a secret that is working in their business right now. And then each table votes for the best secret of the table, and then all the best secrets come on the stage and they share their same secret again. And then there's a top secret of the entire room that gets an awesome spot package, if I do say so myself. So things like that to where you're getting to know people around your table and you're like, oh, she had a really good secret. I want to talk with her in the next break. Or, oh, like, this is interesting.

Jordan [00:15:36]:

She just shared a vendor for these planners that she creates, and I want to write them down and I want to talk to her more about it. That's how connection happens, and that's that curation. It's that a little bit of excitement because you're trying to share the best secret in the room. And those are the things that are really fun for me. And Amy and I spoke, too. I'm somebody. I have an operations background, so I'm not really a name and lights person. I'm not really somebody who likes a lot of attention.

Jordan [00:16:09]:

So funny that I'm doing events, but I actually am not doing any keynotes for this event. I'm only doing the workshops because that's what I like to do. That's what I enjoy. That's where I see a lot of impact when I'm experiencing it and then when my community is experiencing it. So this event really is, again, if you're wanting to be in a fresh room with new people who are smart and kind, generally have been in business for a little while, I would say maybe three or four years minimum. It's not like a requirement, but just generally knowing who's in the room, it's not for people who haven't gotten their first client or things like that. And so, you know, you're meeting people who've been through some stuff, who've experienced business and can share in that. But also, now we're on the journey of business growth together, which is really cool.

Jordan [00:16:54]:

So. So, yeah, a little bit about what my, my event is about.

Amy [00:16:58]:

So cool. I love how interactive you have really created this room to be because so many of them, we sit, we go, and we say and we listen. And I'm not a sitter, I'm a doer. Like, I can't just sit all day. That is not me. But what this does is it builds those relationships so much faster. Because, okay, it's one thing if you're sitting in a room with other people, but to really interact and engage and learn, I love that contest that you do. How cool is that? Because it sparks innovation.

Amy [00:17:32]:

It gets us thinking in a different way. It gets us connecting and collaborating with each other. Because truly, at the end of the day, going to events, they're just providing the space for us to connect with one another. And that's what we need now more than ever in the business world. We need to realize that, you know what? There's. I know it's cliche, but there's truly room at the table for you, too, because we all bring something unique to the table, and we're not going to be for everyone. There's times when we hit capacity that, you know what? I have referral partners that do the exact same thing that I do, and vice versa. Or if I just don't feel like we're an aligned fit, guess what? I know that something's just a little off.

Amy [00:18:21]:

So I'm going to give you an awesome referral to this person. But how good does that feel? Like being a super connector, providing that space for others to connect, collaborate and grow their business together.

Jordan [00:18:35]:

I mean, it's, it's, you know, I think about. I've probably been to hundreds of events at this point. There was one year, I think it was 2017, that I went to 67 events. So I'm somebody who enjoys events, even though I'm somebody who has very much limited energetic capacity. I just think that the speed of trust in events, it's like, yes, we can connect over Zoom or do whatever. And, like, when we're in a room, in a space, there's just a different energetic flow between you and other people that sometimes can get lost in technology. So. And I think, you know, we've mentioned, too, that the distrust online is so high that, you know, it's, it's tough because again, a lot of us are sitting by ourselves in a room with a microphone and a camera a lot of the time.

Jordan [00:19:29]:

And so we want to engage, we want to get to know people, but to just go out and find people to talk to or people to connect with, it's hard. So going into a space that has an intentional and aligned mission, whether it's collaboration at my event or whether it's something else at another event, the speed to trust in the room, knowing that, okay, all these people are here to uplevel or all these people are here to connect, that allows you to get to that goal so much faster because it's a curated room, right? So it's a treat. It's an honor, it's a delight. I love it. And it's something that I definitely see myself continuing to do in the future as well. So, yeah, I love events.

Amy [00:20:14]:

That is so amazing. You know, if you guys are not watching the video on YouTube right now, like, you can just see the passion and energy that Jordan is emitting. Like, you can truly tell you are truly about just collaboration and helping others succeed, and that just is so needed. So thank you so much for being such a light in the online space.
